Date Lead Up - Enter Your Ride
Union Market is popping as I exit the parking garage on my way to the arcade. It took longer to find a spot than expected, so thank goodness I left early. After catching my breath, I see my date in the registration line 15 minutes before our race, as agreed. We love a punctual man. While waiting our turn, I take in the enchanting lights and energetic ambiance. I’m already hyped up when we reach the desk.
After giving our names, we’re pointed to our machines. I melt into the seat, surprised by its comfort. As I grip the wheel, I buzz with excitement. Next, we scan the QR code displayed on our screens, check-in, pick our experience level, and watch the tutorial. Competitive flirty mode activates and I propose a bet. The loser buys the winner a victory drink. When we shake on it, we exchange a spark and a promise.
Date Main Event - Burn Rubber
Now, the game is on. While the clock counts down, I preemptively hit the gas. When the light turns green, my vehicle jumps forward. The road rumbles beneath me as I follow the path’s lime-colored arrows, hugging the turns as I go. Before long, the indicators flash yellow, then red. Upon seeing the change, I slam the breaks and grip the wheel through the corner.
I’m on a roll when powerful vibrations move through my fingers. Then the screen images spin and I realize I’m hit! While I work to recover, my date speeds past. Soon, I’m zipping along the track to catch up. By the third lap, I’m two cars behind. Time is running out as we weave between our competitors. When we’re 15 seconds from the finish, I put the gas pedal to the floor. We’re both close to victory. 3….2….1.
Alas, he beats me. Next, I act devastated by his win. He assures me it’s beginner’s luck while flashing me a playful smile. After promising him a loss, we start the second game. For a moment, I forget it’s a simulation. The instructions, sensations, and strategy mimic my actual Ferrari race a few months back. I’m impressed at the realism. When the results are in for our three games, I admit defeat.
Adrenaline pumping, I point towards the bar. “I’m a woman of my word,” I say, ready to pay the debt. “That loss is punishment enough. It’s on me. You can treat on our next date,” he insists with a charming grin. I blush at the smooth delivery, agreeing to his terms.

After I absorb the stunning stature of the futuristic bar, I peruse the raceway-themed drink menu. The enticing cocktail selection mirrors the arresting ambiance. Upon ordering, I shift gears to focus on him.

| Transportation | If you decide to drive, arrive 15 min early to find a spot. Recommend parking in the Gables Union Market garage at 1325 5th St NE (4 min walk to event). The first three hours are free, then it's $15 for the day. To re-enter the garage, type the code on your ticket into the keypad outside where you originally exited. Street parking is available, but very limited. Since this area is busy and congested, consider Rideshare or public transportation.
